As Pat Allen, one of Art Therapy's pioneers has described it "Art is a way of knowing." Here at Tea Cup we regard the practice of art therapy as one that favors process over product and inquiry over interpretation.
We believe that by engaging our imagination and brain regions that do not deal with verbal skills alone, we may become more are able to give form to feelings we simply do not have words for. Art is a way of making our inner world visible. It is a practice of "working" with our physical, emotional and relational bodies and is available to anyone regardless of their age, artistic, or intellectual abilities.
